The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) is a worldwide network of professionals in international business development. The mandate of the TCS is to promote Canada’s economic interests in global markets by engaging in a range of activities including: contributing to export market development; conducting advocacy and foreign market access activities; developing a network of international business contacts; identifying and communicating of business leads; and fostering of strategic alliances.
The Trade Officer participates in the planning and delivery of the Trade Program at the Embassy of Canada in Armenia to assist Canadian companies from a range of sectors in their international business endeavours. This include, but is not limited to:
- Providing services to clients. The work requires understanding the needs of clients, finding the right contacts for them, assessing their market potential and business model in relation to the market, and helping with untangling problems.
- Contributing to the research and analysis of trends and developments related to the Trade Program that could have a significant effect on Canadian interests and reporting them to the supervisor.
- Establishing and maintaining a network of contacts with local and foreign governments, companies, industry representatives, and stakeholders to stay abreast of local developments, changes, policies, and programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
: 
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language and experience. Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications. The language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
Degree from a recognized university in a field related to the position (including but not limited to commerce, international business, finance, and economics) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Language:
- Fluency in English (written and spoken);
- Fluency in Armenian (written and spoken);
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years (within the past 5 years) of experience in one or more of the following:
- International business development;
- Working with commercial, financial, or government clients in international trade and/or investment promotion.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Armenia’s business environment, local business practices, and key sectoral capabilities/clusters.
Competencies:
- Adaptability and flexibility;
- Judgment;
- Works effectively with others;
- Shows initiative and is action-oriented;
- Client focus.
Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate in English (orally and in writing);
- Ability to coordinate conflicting priorities within tight deadlines and meet work targets;
- Ability to conduct research, synthesize information from diverse sources and draft various communication products, including reports, speeches and business correspondence.
Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Ability to communicate in French, both orally and in writing;
- FITT Certified International Trade Professional (CITP/FIBP).

REMUNERATION/ SALARY
: 
AMD 14,863,306 per annum and benefits (as per Terms of Conditions of Employment for Locally-Engaged Staff in Armenia)

This position is open to candidates currently resident in Armenia, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in Armenia without restriction, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below and whose applications are received by the closing date.
